MetaVerb is a vocabulary trainer with two faces: a Telegram bot and this website, sharing one account. These terms say what you can expect from it and what it expects from you.
The service
MetaVerb saves words you look up, translates them, and asks you about them again on a spaced-repetition schedule. It is free, carries no advertising, and is run by one person, not a company.
Your account
You sign in with Google or with Telegram; we never see a password. One account belongs to one person, and you are responsible for what happens under it. A Telegram account and a website login can be connected so both show the same vocabulary.
Your words are yours
The words, folders and sentences you add remain yours. We store them to run the service for you, and send text to Google Gemini when a translation or a check is needed. We do not sell them, publish them, or use them to train anything.
Fair use
Use MetaVerb to learn. Do not automate it, scrape it, overload it, attempt to reach other people's data, or put illegal content into it. An account doing any of that can be closed.
What the AI produces
Translations, example sentences, synonyms and feedback on sentences come from a language model. They are usually good and sometimes wrong. Do not rely on them where a mistake matters - an exam, a contract, a medical or legal text.
Availability
This runs on a small server, not a data centre. It can be slow, it can be down, and features can change or disappear. There is no uptime guarantee and no compensation for outages. You can download your whole vocabulary at any time from your profile, so you are never locked in.
Your data
How data is handled, on what legal basis and for how long is set out in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
Ending it
You can delete everything at any moment: "Delete my data" in your profile, or /deletemydata in the bot. It is immediate and irreversible. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and will say why where we can.
Liability
The service is provided as it is. Liability is excluded except for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where liability is mandatory by law - German product liability in particular. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Changes
These terms can change. The date above changes with them, and a significant change will be announced in the bot. Continuing to use MetaVerb after a change means accepting it.
Law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in still apply to you.
